Packt seeks .NET Developers for its Focused Cookbook Range

Packt Publishing is looking for .NET developers to expand its range of Cookbooks. No previous writing experience necessary, just as enthusiasm for the subject and an ability to put their expertise into words.

Why is this an interesting area?

.NET continues to expand, and is a platform that millions of professional developers rely on every day. As the technology matures and develops there’s an increasing need for focused Cookbooks that help the reader learn new areas and specialisms within the platform.

Why the Cookbook approach?

Cookbooks are great for helping people get things done; the recipes provide straightforward answers to specific problems without having to wade through realms of documentation. They provide the quickest way for relative newcomers to a technology to reach an accomplished and professional level.

What area does Packt want to cover?

We’re looking for Cookbooks in topic areas such as:

  • Integrating .NET with APIs and other applications including integrating Windows, web and other platforms.
  • Cloud programming with Azure and other online services.
  • Using new architectures such as MVC.
  • Dealing with particular problems or use cases such as security, performance, parallel programming, UI design.
  • Developing common features such as e-commerce features, social application features, content management features, and so on.
  • Targeting multiple platforms. Windows, Web, Mobile, Silverlight, and so on.
  • Building attractive “Mac-style” apps for Windows! Don’t lots of VB and C# developers have Mac envy! We’d love to have a book that showed .NET developers how they can produce polished, beautiful interfaces for their Windows apps.
  • And more! If you have a hot topic you think Packt should cover, don’t hesitate to contact us.

    Who are we looking for?

    If you think you have a killer book idea on .Net and fancy writing it, we are looking for you. Even if you don’t have a book idea but are simply interested in authoring a book in this domain, we are keen to talk to you! All that we expect from you is a good knowledge of your subject and an ability to put it into words. Although no previous authoring experience is necessary, experience writing tutorials, blogs or giving presentations on the subject would be an advantage.
