Arun Ramakani is the author of ‘End-to-End Automation with Kubernetes and Crossplane’, we got the chance to sit down and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.

Q: What are your specialist tech areas?

Arun: Kubernetes DevOps, Solution Architecture

Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?

Arun: I started my author journey as a white paper publisher at Innovation Lab, Emirates Airlines, to identify and socialize emerging technologies’ business potential within the enterprise. Then became a public blogger to help people learn new technologies and architecture patterns through medium.com. Later I was reached by Niranjan from Packt to write a book on Kubernetes.

Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?

Arun: It was a couple of months research to finalise the books story line. My research involves reading through multiple blogpost from Crossplane contributors, going through day-to-day discussions in Crossplane community slack channels, experimenting and discovering Crossplane patterns with Hands-on journey.

Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?

Arun: Crossplane community slack channel helped me to on a few doubts and the way few patterns works to complete the hands-on journeys. Even reported a few bugs that stopepd my hands-on journeys, in the Crossplane github page and got them fixed. (https://github.com/crossplane/crossplane/issues/2836)

Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?

Arun: This will be next stage of evolution in the world of infrastructure automation and will be the next big Kubernetes use-case.

Q: Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?

Arun: This is the fist book on Crossplane covering infrastructure/application/services automation from an end-to-end perspective. This is a unique concept that is getting lot adoption in the recent time in the world of DevOps. The reader can both learn the concept and experiment with hands-on code journeys.

Arun:

Arun: Following technical people on twitter, read blogposts and being part of open-source slack channels are my way to learn new technology

Q. How did you organize, plan, and prioritize your work and write the book?

Arun: When ever I get some time away from work and family 🙂

Q. What is the one writing tip that you found most crucial and would like to share with aspiring authors?

Arun: Spend time on book and chapter outline a lot. Once you have a clear flow it is easy to achieve.
