Andros Fenollosa is the author of Building SPAs with Django and HTML Over the Wire, we got the chance to sit down and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.
Q: What are your specialist tech areas?
Andros: Web development
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?
Andros: I wanted to share with the world; a new knowledge technique in Web development with Python.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Andros: I have been working for several years, creating different projects, demonstrations and giving talks about it.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Andros: The biggest challenge was simplifying to make a transparent series of techniques that could be applied automatically. Lower the level enough to make it understandable.
Q: Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?
Andros: The subject matter of the book is unique. No one else talks about how to create a page using HTML over Web Sockets in Python or Django. While in other areas, it is highly developed. There is nothing that I have come across in the Python ecosystem.
Q: What are the key takeaways you want readers to come away with from the book?
Andros: I would like you to understand that currently there are faster and more modern techniques that avoid too much use of JavaScript in the frontend.
Q. What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Andros: Working with perseverance, patience and without prejudice, you will achieve results that now seem impossible. It is possible to build SPAs without JavaScript, or at least with the essentials.

Q. How would you describe your author’s journey with Packt? Would you recommend Packt to aspiring authors?
Andros: The trip was very satisfactory. I really liked the final finish and how professional my reviewers were. Without them the book would not have been as good.
Q. Do you belong to any tech community groups?
Andros: Yes, to the Python community in Spain. In fact, I organize a local community in Valencia.
Q. What are your favorite tech journals? How do you keep yourself up to date on tech?
Andros: Hacker News, Twitter and blogs.
Q. How did you organize, plan, and prioritize your work and write the book?
Andros: I dedicated all the time I had available on weekends. Many Sundays, from morning to evening, were spent writing.
Q. What is that one writing tip that you found most crucial and would like to share with aspiring authors?
Andros: First document thoroughly the chapter to be written, then program the code with the examples, create a draft, and clean it up at the end of the week. Always reserve time for corrections.
