Dmytro Shpakovskyi is the author of Modern Web Testing with Packt , we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey.
Dmytro: I am active open source contributor, so once upon a time I was contacted by the publisher who was impressed by my previous work and suggested me to write a book and share my experience with the audience.
Q: How long did it take you to write the book?
Dmytro: It took me about four months to write this book.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Dmytro: I started writing right after creating a chapter-by-chapter plan of what I would like to see in my book.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Dmytro: One of the main challenges while writing the book is the motivation loss. Sometimes you just have to push yourself a little bit further.
Q: What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Dmytro: Stay curious, feel free to google and dive deeper into each topic that is new to you.
Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech?
Dmytro: Follow some people and repositories on GitHub and keep an eye on the updates.
Q. Do you have a blog that readers can follow?
Dmytro: Check it on stijit.com
Q. Can you share any blogs, websites and forums to help readers gain a holistic view of the tech they are learning?
Dmytro: I suggest stijit.com
Q. How would you describe your author journey with Packt? Would you recommend Packt to aspiring authors?
Dmytro: It was really fun, but at the same time the final “edit-check all changes were done-edit-check again” process was quite demanding and took a lot of time and efforts. I would recommend Packt to aspiring authors that realize and are ready to sacrifice a significant amount of personal time in favor of sharing their knowledge.
