Khusro Habib is the author of Developing Multi-platform apps with VS Code, we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey.
Khusro: I have been working with technology for almost a couple of decades and have delivered several enterprise-grade solutions over these years. Delivering solutions has several aspects attached to it, first and foremost is the problem we are targeting, secondly designing the solution and choosing the right technology, and then learning and development. The objective is to create a solution that can deliver value to its customers in a cost-effective and efficient manner. I am thankful to the co-author of our book who introduced me to the Packt team. I believe Packt saw value in my diversified experience as a technology enthusiast with a focus on development, architecture, and delivery of the overall solution. Packt approached me earlier this year in 2020 to write a book on VS Code that focuses on multiple platforms and demonstrates practical knowledge by developing a complete application.
Q: How long did it take you to write the book?
Khusro: 5 months.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Khusro: The book focuses on teaching the tool while developing an open-source multi-platform application. The research was divided into two parts, one focused on what VS Code can deliver for developers and second on designing, developing, and deploying the solution.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Khusro: The biggest challenge was managing time along with work and family. My family was a great support and in reality, they compromised on their time for me to complete this book.
Q: What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Khusro: Technology is evolving faster than ever before. It’s very important to keep yourself updated and adapt to change before its too late. On the other hand, its extremely exciting to see what has become possible today and we being part of it can play an important role and bring real change to people’s life.
Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech?
Khusro: First and foremost is the abundance of online content which is a major source for self-paced learning. Apart from this, I take time out to attend relevant conferences and keep in touch with my peers to stay up to date.

Q. How would you describe your author journey with Packt? Would you recommend Packt to aspiring authors?
Khusro: My experience with Packt has been very exciting. Overall Packt is a very professional publisher and its focus is on delivering value to its readers. They were very helpful in onboarding me to their standards and guidelines and it was fun working with the whole team including the reviewers, project managers, and editors.
