Interview with Miguel Teheran

Miguel Angel Teheran Garcia is the author of Hands-On Visual Studio 2022, we got the chance to sit down and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.

Q: What are your specialist tech areas?

Miguel: .NET and Microsoft technologies

Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?

Miguel: I was contacted by Aaron Tanna by LinkedIn and we talked about opportunities to write about related to any Microsoft Technology. After analyzing the possibilities we move forward with Visual Studio 2022 and I invited a friend (Hector Perez) to work with me on this book. we did a plan, defined the topics and started this journey.

Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?

Miguel: First, I had to learn how to write a book and all the guidelines used by Packt. I had to perform some research in order to choose an important group of functionalities to include in the book and understand the differences between Visual Studio 2019 and Visual Studio 2022

Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?

Miguel: The main challenge was to understand and apply each of the Packt standards and best practices to write a book that was easy to read and concise. That is, to write the ideas in the best possible way to make it enjoyable and easy for readers.

Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?

Miguel: Visual Studio will remain the primary IDE for .NET developers and this will not change for a long time. Visual Studio 2022 will have many updates that will keep it up to date and will include support for new technologies such as .NET MAUI that was released a few months ago.

Q: Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?

Miguel: This book has the particularity that it was written by 2 authors and we had the opportunity to review each other’s work and share ideas to write the best book possible. This book is a very complete guide to start step by step with each of the concepts and versions of Visual Studio to explore the most advanced features.

Q: What are the key takeaways you want readers to come away with from the book?

Miguel: The most important thing you will learn after reading the Visual Studio 2022 book is to be able to install and extend Visual Studio and then extend it by adding new workloads and extensions. You will also learn how to take advantage of the tools that Visual Studio has to improve the quality of your code.
