Rosaria Silipo is the author of the book Codeless Deep Learning, we got the chance to sit down with her and find out more about her experience of writing with Packt.
Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey.
Rosaria: I do not remember exactly. We sent a few proposals: deep learning, time series analysis, and data wrangling. And then eventually the deep learning proposal got the interest.
Q: How long did it take you to write the book?
Rosaria: 8 months.
Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?
Rosaria: We had all the material ready (almost all), because we teach a course on machine learning, including neural networks and deep learning and we had a bunch of case studies we had already worked on. We had to study just to make sure that all statements were absolutely correct.
Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?
Rosaria: The biggest challenge was not to repeat what we had already written in posts and other material. It took quite some time to reword things.
Q: What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?
Rosaria: Practice. Do not just learn the theory. Start using it. From the practice you will understand a lot more.
Q. How do you keep up-to-date on your tech?
Rosaria: We study and we sponsor advanced projects.
