Interview with Seiji Ralph Villafranca

Seiji Ralph Villafranca is the author of Spring Boot and Angular, we got the chance to sit down with him and find out more about his experience of writing with Packt.

Q: What is/are your specialist tech area(s)?

Seiji: Web Development (Angular React and Node), Mobile Development.

Q: How did you become an author for Packt? Tell us about your journey. What was your motivation for writing this book?

Seiji: I am originally a Tech Community Leader and a speaker sharing my tech stuff with students or professionals, I like to share the things I’ve learned in the world of tech and these bring really a lot of new open doors for aspiring developers, and one day, I’ve thought hey, writing the things I’ve learned can reach a lot of people, this gave me inspiration to write about my first learned JavaScript framework.

Q: What kind of research did you do, and how long did you spend researching before beginning the book?

Seiji: Well, its a combination of both research and experience, Devlin and I took a lot of brainstorming about the techs and standards that we have experienced in our companies, we want the book not just to be a reading material but we also want to be a guide on what are the techs and possible stuff that you can encounter upon entering the world of tech.

Q: Did you face any challenges during the writing process? How did you overcome them?

Seiji: Yes, one of the most challenging scenarios is how to compile all the knowledge base of Angular and Spring Boot, both frameworks are very complex and we cannot include them in just one book, in this situation we have planned it carefully what are the most important and useful things that we should include for the readers, It is really crucial placing information that might be confusing to the readers.

Q: What’s your take on the technologies discussed in the book? Where do you see these technologies heading in the future?

Seiji: These technologies have gotten a long way now, Spring Boot is widely used all over the world since it is a stable framework for Java same to the Angular framework, and still they are continuing to improve releasing new features that will make web development efficient.

Q. Why should readers choose this book over others already on the market? How would you differentiate your book from its competition?

Seiji: Devlin and I wrote this back not just to inform what are the techs available to use in the market, but this is a practical guide on what we usually do in the industry helping the readers learn not just about how to use the tools, but also how to use the tools properly.

Q. What are the key takeaways you want readers to come away from the book with?

Seiji: We want the readers to learn that Angular and Spring Boot are very powerful frameworks for web development but we must always take into consideration how to use them, as we always say great power comes from great responsibility.

Q. What advice would you give to readers learning tech? Do you have any top tips?

Seiji: My always advice would be “Learn things one at a time” don’t pressure yourselves on learning everything, pick your main weapon and focus only on one.

Q. Do you have a blog that readers can follow?

Seiji: Yes! you can visit my blog at https://seijivillafranca.com/blog

Q. Can you share any blogs, websites, and forums to help readers gain a holistic view of the tech they are learning?

Q. What is the one writing tip that you found most crucial and would like to share with aspiring authors?
